French: counting to 31

Image
Year 3 have been learning about the months of the year and numbers to 31. They ordered numbers from 20 to 31 with their partners and sang  a numbers song and revised months of the year. They then told their partners how old they were and then wrote down their ages in their books.

Music

Music - African Rhythm This term in music year 3 have been looking at creating rhythms, based on the story Handa's Surprise. They have started to compose their own songs about the fruits that they would put into their own baskets. We have learned about how to read notated rhythms and looked at some of the musical symbols.  The children impressed me with their ability to notate their own rhythms to remember for next week. We have looked at some traditional African instruments and grouped them into families, discussing what familiar instruments they are similar to. (Wind, Strings, percussion...)

PSHE - safe technology use

Image
In PSHE this week, Year 3 learned about the pros and cons of spending time online. The children were brilliant at discussing and categorising the different effects of technology use. For example, using the internet can be educational, however, spending too long on devices can affect your eyesight and your sleep quality. The children made posters to warn younger years about using technology too much. We also recapped some online safety advice: do not speak to strangers. The children could all offer good advice when it comes to strangers online, including: Block them Report Turn off your device Speak to one of your five trusted adults. Here are some of their brilliant posters:

Brilliant Bronze Age

Image
This week, our Year 3 historians took on the role of Bronze Age detectives! A few lucky pupils opened mystery envelopes containing pictures of ancient artefacts, and the whole class worked together to piece together their purpose and significance. It was brilliant to see their curiosity and teamwork shine as they shared ideas and developed their historical enquiry skills. Well done!
